This news that Nissan is cutting the base price of its Leaf does not surprise me, considering the incentives that both the state of California and the dealer offered my husband to lease a 2012 one for three years. They were really looking to move the vehicles off the lot by the end of the year . We bit.
DETROIT (AP) – Big announcement at the North American International Auto Show: Nissan is lowering the price of its all-electric Leaf in an effort to boost anemic sales.
The base price will now be $28,800, which amount to a six thousand dollar reduction. Factor in a federal tax credit of $7,5oo and the price becomes competitive with Toyota’s Prius hybrid, and far less than the Chevy Volt and Ford’s Focus E-V.
The 2013 Leaf goes on sale next month.
General Motors North American President, Mark Reuss says there are no plans for his company to lower Volt prices.
